The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) has a vision of a world with good mental health for all. Their focus is on preventing mental health problems and improving people's wellbeing. They do this through research, creating new evidence-based solutions, making practical support available and advocating for change. MHF is now recruiting a Senior Research Officer who will develop and lead research and evaluation studies that are focused upon preventing mental health problems and reducing mental health inequalities.
Please note this role would expect 2-3 days in their Glasgow office when restrictions are lifted.
As a Senior Research Officer you will develop and lead strategically important research and evaluation projects on time and to budget. You will work in collaboration with academic partners to undertake research, plan and facilitate collaborative learning and knowledge exchange events to share learning and stimulate discussion about relevant topics. Ensuring research is informed by the views and experiences of people with lived experience of mental health problems is also part of this role alongside managing and supporting Research Officers, Assistants, PhD students and Consultants as required. You will also work with communication and policy colleagues to help tell a persuasive story of evidence and research to engage and influence a diverse range of audiences.
To be successful as a Senior Research Officer you will have demonstrable skills in conducting evidence/literature reviews alongside a proven ability to design and lead mixed methods research studies. Having an interest in participatory research and commitment to the importance of lived experience voice in shaping and influencing research is important, as is have the evidenced ability to write for - and present to - academic, policy and public audiences.

The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) has a vision of a world with good mental health for all. Their focus is on preventing mental health problems and improving people's wellbeing. MHF is now recruiting for two Project Managers to support with the implementation of the Foundation's Covid Respond Programme (CRP), a £2m UK-wide investment that aims to support and protect the mental health of at-risk communities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Project Managers will sit in either the adult team, or the children families and young people team, working as part of MHF's new Covid Respond Programme, specifically across Scotland. The Project Managers will work closely with the Programme Managers in their respective teams to implement new and innovative areas of work that focus on the prevention of mental health problems. The Project Managers will work in close partnership with other organisations and charities, utilising capacity building models to ensure practical mental health support to people whose experience of inequalities before and during the pandemic has left them most in need of support. The Project Managers will ensure all projects have agreed outcomes, clear workplans and that reporting mechanisms are fulfilled, and will support innovation in the development of sustainable and scalable models of practice.

MHF is now recruiting a Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager to develop and implement their national policy and public affairs programme and work closely with colleagues in the Communications and Fundraising Directorate to ensure the Foundation's campaigns achieve maximum impact.

As a Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager you will influence policymakers and opinion-formers, to achieve the goals of our strategic plan for prevention and develop the national policy function through the design and delivery of strategic policy initiatives. You will also implement national public affairs campaigns through a range of influencing methods to a variety of stakeholders to achieve change and represent the Foundation at conferences, policy forums, parliaments and in the media. Line managing the Policy & Public Affairs Officer and occasionally consultants, volunteers and interns in a supportive and professional manner is also part of this role alongside writing content, articles and blogs on the key issues and helping support the development of effective public messaging on policy.
To be successful as a Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager you will have demonstrable knowledge and understanding of public policy relevant to mental health, evidenced knowledge and understanding of social inequalities and an understanding of the structures and working of the Scottish Parliament. Proven knowledge and understanding of policy development, advocacy, influencing and campaigning is essential as is the ability to quickly pick up and critique new policy, research, political agendas and opportunities.
