WINTER REFUGEE APPEAL 2025
First of all, thank you to everyone who has donated so far, including our members and supporters, the Iona Community, all faith groups, the Quakers, EIS Local Associations, Registered Social Landlords, Trade unions, companies and members of the public.
We have so far raised almost £15,000 to support 150 refugee families.
We want to support a total of 500 refugee families in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Perth and other towns and cities in Scotland, and need to raise a further £35,000. Please help us crowdfund this appeal before Christmas Eve π.
We will acknowledge each donation and for companies we can provide receipts on request for your accounting records.
The holidays are a time when families gather, homes fill with warmth, and gifts are exchanged.
For the refugee families that we support, it can be the loneliest time of the year.
Most of the families we support are living in poverty, or temporary accommodation far from their homes and loved ones.
Last winter our Emergency Relief Fund provided life-saving grants to 400 needy families and individuals. The generosity of our supporters meant people could eat, stay warm, and stay connected through one of the toughest winters we've ever faced.
This year, our goal is to support 500 families and individuals with food and clothing vouchers, energy grants, sim cards and baby supplies.
£100 donated will support one family to have a warm and happy Christmas.
Our Room for Refugees network will offer safe free shelter through our generous hosts.
This appeal will also support almost 100 recognised refugees from Palestine, they are mainly students trying to leave Gaza, or families trying to reunite. We are providing emergency support, linking people with refugee hosts, providing support with student visas, scholarships and family reunion, helping to rebuild lives and education after devastating loss.
Who we have helped so far
_ Raghad, a Palestinian student, is being hosted through our Room for Refugees programme.
– Farzad, a refugee from Iran, moved from hotel accommodation into an unfurnished flat. A small grant helped him heat his home and start again.
– Natalia, a single mother from Ukraine, who experienced devastating loss and needed support to resettle with her son.
Your donation will help people eat healthily, stay warm, and digitally connected to loved ones.
