This year, we want to support 500 refugee families in Glasgow, and elsewhere in Scotland. 10% of the families we support are in desperate impoverishment in London.
We will acknowledge each donation, for companies we can provide receipts on request for your accounting records.
For the refugee families that we support, it can be the loneliest time of the year. Most of the families are living in unimaginable poverty, are destitute or in temporary accommodation.
£100 donated will support one family to have a warm and happy Christmas.
Our Room for Refugees network will offer safe free shelter through our generous volunteer hosts.
This appeal will also support almost 100 recognised refugees from Palestine, they are mainly students trying to leave Gaza, or families trying to reunite.
We are providing emergency support, linking people with refugee hosts, providing support with student visas, scholarships and family reunion, helping to rebuild lives and education after devastating loss.
Who we will help
_ Madeleen is from Syria, she is 23 years old, and is here on a family reunion visa. She is pregnant and her due date is approaching. She needs a maternity bag, clothes for the new baby, a walker, and a stroller.
– Christie, is on a student visa from Zimbabwe, She has a 2 month old baby and is subletting in a very small, very damp room with mould all over. She is not allowed to put the heating on in the flat and it's freezing cold. She is very worried about her baby. She has tried to find a shared apartment but none of them want a baby.
– Sahar, a 24 year old Palestinian student has experienced devastating loss of her family in Gaza, she is seeking assistance with her energy debt as she cannot afford to eat.
